While a spacious home with all the latest amenities may be your dream, the truth is that love and happiness can be found in even the smallest of spaces. In fact, living in a smaller home has its own advantages, such as reduced maintenance costs, less clutter, and a greater sense of togetherness among family members. I have found this to be true even though I am still dreaming of a house myself. Our smaller home has been just what our young family needed.
For example my family lives in a small, two-bedroom house with a very small living space. Despite the limited space, we have managed to create a warm, cozy, and loving environment that is almost perfect (did I mention we have one bathroom 🤣). In this blog, we will explore some of the tips and tricks that we use to maximize the feeling of love of home for our two children and ourselves in our minimal space, and how you can do the same in your own home.
Embrace Coziness
A small space can feel cramped and cramped if you don't use it wisely. We know this, and that's why I have made sure that every inch of our home is cozy and inviting. We have used warm lighting, soft textures, and comfortable furnishings to create a sense of comfort and intimacy. You too can embrace coziness by choosing warm colors, adding plush rugs, and investing in comfortable furniture that is both functional and stylish.
Make Room for Togetherness
In a small space, it's important to create areas where you can be together as a family. We have a small dining table where we eat together every evening, and a cozy living room where we read and spend time together. By having these dedicated spaces, we can spend quality time with each other and create memories that will last a lifetime. My oldest who is 6 does not want to move he says "He loves our house it's in his heart". There is no better proof.
Minimize Clutter
Clutter can make even the largest of spaces feel small and cramped. We have learned to minimize clutter by being mindful of putting things in their place and regularly decluttering. By keeping our space clutter-free, we have created a more relaxing and peaceful environment.
Use your Space Wisely
Don't forget the vertical space you may have just because you have limited floor space doesn't mean that you can't make the most of your home. We have taken advantage of our vertical space by using shelves that go high to keep our belongings organized and out of the way. By doing this, we have created more usable floor space and made our home feel less cluttered.
Love your Decor
I find its really important to me that my decor reflects the things that matter to me, things that bring me joy, make sure the things you have in your home bring you happiness and joy. Pictures, pieces with meaning, items from trips these are all great items. I make sure even the things I use everyday are something I love. I said goodbye to things I don't really like because our home is so small that we use a lot of what we have on a daily or weekly basis.
In Conclusion
In conclusion, love can flourish in even the smallest of spaces. By embracing coziness, making room for togetherness, minimizing clutter, using your space wisely and making it your own, you too can create a warm, cozy, and loving environment in your own home. Just like we did for our family, you can make the most of your small space and find happiness within it.
